"Little Princes" Comparison

Comparing
Connor Grennan, in his story, explores how a man after making a decision to explore the world by travelling was able to discover himself and the world, where his describes this as a unique experience. Throughout the paper I am going to bring out the similarities and differences that appear between two separate parts of this book found on pages six to nine and fifty two to fifty five.
At the beginning of the text, we are introduced to a selfish man who in appearance is an adult, but in real sense his behavior depicts that of a child. He lives a reckless life and does not seem to have any considerations for the future. Ironically, he talks about orphanages and his journey around the world through his voluntary services in the orphanages will result to him being entertained. In his perception, his willingness to volunteer will be an excuse enough for him to take a year to have fun. This is clearly brought out in his words ''who would dare begrudge me my year of fun after doing something like that?' (Grennan 7).
The second part of the book on the other hand the main actor is brought out as a very different person in comparison to the main character of the first part of the book. In contrast to the main character of the first part of the book, he has a better understanding of what it means to show care, love and support and how it feels like to be responsible for another person. Through his encounter with the orphaned children he gets help in understanding the powerful impacts that come with promise and hope. He still held close the memories of his love for dating women, going out and watching TV. He believes that these activities are necessary for him, but he also understands how important and meaningful his life would be.

Looking at these two parts of the book, we can see how change of environment and adaptation of new purpose could transform a person’s life. The other difference that is clear in these two parts of the book is the writing styles that have been used; the author of the second part of the book uses words that carry more value and weight compared to the first part.
